About Pro Natura International (Nigeria)
Who We Are:
Pro-Natura International has been working in the Niger Delta
for approximately ten years. During this time it has established itself
as the primary exponent of the ‘bottom up’ participatory
development process. PNI’s highly experienced team consisting
of approximately 30 employees, is committed to enlightening donors,
oil companies and Government of the need for full participation in community
development and natural resource management in this fragile ecosystem.
That sustainability can only be achieved through the full involvement,
control and ownership of the process by the people themselves.
How we work:
We preach participatory development by facilitating community-led development
that builds partnership with secondary stakeholders: government, donor
agencies, the private sector (including the oil and gas industry) and
non-governmental agencies. These stakeholders provide communities (the
primary stakeholders) with funding and technical assistance to support
technically correct, fundable projects proposed, planned, implemented,
managed and owned by community dwellers.
